Studio Architects was commissioned to explore options for the location of a multi-purpose activity Hall, taking into account the overall strategic long-term development of the School.

The Hall provides a 140 sq. metres space with storage for PE equipment. A Gallery is formed over the secondary accommodation providing a viewing area and supplementary teaching space. The Hall will be available for community use, offering activities such as dance,low-level aerobics and judo.

The proposed form and materials of the Hall relate strongly to the 19th century main School buildings: the walls are of red hand-made facing brick to match the existing building with reconstructed Bath stone details; roof finish is clay plain tiles. Roof windows, generally on the north-facing roof are central pivoting ‘Velux’ types, controlled electronically.

Major windows on the north elevation, take advantage of fine views over the town and the hills beyond. Windows, screens and external doors are aluminium framed with a light grey polyester powder-coated finish.

Since its opening in early 2005, the School has funded a sound-and-lighting system to further extend the range of facilities for the children and the community.
