Studio Architects: NEW APARTMENT

Mounton House was built in the early 20th century for Henry Avray Tipping, a leading member of the Arts and Crafts movement who was Editor of Country Life magazine, and a friend of Harold Peto (creater of Iford Manor).

The property was acquired by the Local Authority in the later part of the last century and became used as a school, with the buildings of the stable courtyard being converted as classrooms. The whole estate is listed, the main house being of particular interest.

The property was then acquired by a developer, and has been subdivided into apartment units for individual purchasers to develop.

Apartment II has been designed to create a welcoming entrance hall, maximise openess through the living areas, and to exploit the roof space for additional bedrooms having a contemporary style to contrast with the rugged character of the building shell.
