The Bond Pavilion presents a new frontage for the school facing the main site entrance, and was seen as an opportunity to combine increased accessibility with an extended entrance area and new dining facilities.

The pavilion provides the school with a facility for social gatherings of local community groups which can be approached independently of the main entrance when being used outside school hours.

The strong forms of the original 1960’s brick building had provided only a modest entrance, and the desire for a new strong entrance which avoided a reliance on steps allowed the forms of the ramp and entrance canopy to complement the original building in a successful and contemporary way.

Procurement of the building contract was through a restricted competitive tender, and carried out under a JCT 98 Minor Works Contract in 16 weeks.
